Starting from an early age, J Michael always knew he wanted to be an artist. Growing up in Palm Springs, California, he spent his childhood immersed in a world of fashion, art, and pop culture which inevitably led him to Los Angeles at 19 years old.

J Michael received professional hair training at Vidal Sassoon Academy in Santa Monica, CA upon arriving in Los Angeles. After spending a few years behind the chair in hair salons, keying backstage at fashion shows, and building a name for himself in the underground art scene of LA, it wasn't long before his raw talent and undeniable edge would launch his creative skills into the world of celebrity and entertainment.

Inspired by the laid back, beachy attitude of Southern California, J Michael is famous for creating his signature effortless yet timeless hairstyles. His advertising clients include a wide range of fashion and beauty brands like Guess, HourGlass Cosmetics, and Anastasia Beverly Hills. He also maintains an A-List celebrity clientele such as Yoshiki, Empire of the Sun, and Lana Del Rey.

With over sixteen years of experience in editorial hairstyling, J Michael's talent has lead him to working alongside some of the word's top fashion photographers and directors and his session work has graced the covers and pages of Vogue, Teen Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, and Grazia Magazine to name a few.

He is currently represented in Los Angeles by Celestine Agency.
